Calculate and mitigate your trip to Cancun

The Mexican Government, coherent with the goal to render the 16th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change a neutral green house gases event, has undertaken the leadership to quantify, verify and mitigate the emissions generated by all conference activities to be held from November the 29th to December the 10th in the city of Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. disclaimer

Pronatura México A.C. has been in charge of developing and implementing this calculating tool financed with the generous support of Fundación Coca Cola A.C.

The mitigation includes those emissions generated by the totality of the Official Delegations participating in the Conference; the calculation includes the number of participants accredited by United Nations with their corresponding final destinations.

Nevetheless, and given the fact that the calculation did not include the travels of observers, press members, NGOs and related agencies, we invite you to participate in this initiative by quantifying and mitigating your emissions using this trip calculator specifically designed for the COP16 / CMP6. By using it, you can calculate the GEI emissions generated by your trip to Cancun while offering you the option to mitigate them via the purchase of carbon certificates from different international projects. disclaimer                                                Calculate your emissions

This calculating tool has been developed based on the emission factors used by the GEI protocol (as developed by the World Resources Institute) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (("EFs for the revised mobile tool (April 03)" with factors developed by UK DEFRA and US EPA).
